Day 4 - Farmers and Food

Now living in the perpetual Saturday, I spent the day exploring what our local Farmers have to offer and eating some really great food!

James made us breakfast this morning -  a sausage frittata and hashbrowns.  We ate it with Watties Tomato Sauce - yum yum!

After breakfast and a short detour back to the Aritzia Warehouse sale with Erica, my mom and James' girlfriend Melanie we headed to the Vancouver Farmer's Market in Kitsilano.  We get a Community Supported Agriculture or (CSA) bag every week from Klippers Organics a farm in Cawston, BC.  For those of you who don't know what this is it is described as a share or membership in the farm!  We pay up front, get a bag for the entire summer of yummy organic produce and Klippers uses the capital to support the farm.  Today we got the following in our bag

Walla walla onion       $3.00
Carrots                      $2.50
Zucchini                     $2.00
Cucumber                  $2.50
Hot peppers               $0.50
Heirloom tomatoes     $7.00
Cherry tomatoes        $5.00
Peaches                    $3.00
Chard                        $2.50
Garlic                        $2.00

After picking up our CSA share we grabbed lunch at our favourite Crepe place - La Boheme Creperie.   Ok so this is actually a food cart that is usually at the farmers market but the crepes are c'est magnifique!!  Buckwheat crepes are all they serve, but they have so many different choices that it is often hard to choose which one to get!  Today I had the Lebanese.  It had humous, goat cheese, feta, kalamata olives and greens in it and it was tres delicieux as usual!

Parched after our excursion to the Farmers Market we ventured down to 4th Avenue and stopped at David's Tea.  We all tried different teas - Goji Berry, Lime Bang, Northern Lights and Southern Belle.

What a great day!

Today's Lesson: Eat Local! Eat Organic!  It is delicious and definitely worth it!
